According to all sources, and the Times: it’s raining conservative men. Leave those umbrellas at home ladies and go out and get absolutely soaking wet.
That weather report again: “Young people are increasingly diverging politically, with women becoming more liberal and men more likely to be conservative, researchers have revealed.
Two decades ago, there was little difference between men and women aged 18 to 29 when asked to place themselves on a scale of one to ten signifying “very liberal” to “very conservative”. But an analysis of 20 wealthy countries carried out by The Economist discovered that by 2020 the gap had grown to 0.75 on the scale. The gap between men and women in Britain was 0.71.” This was reported in the Times this week.

Although many thought this was bad news with one mother wondering how they can prevent their sons from ‘sliding to the right’ (heaven forbid!) for the sensible amongst us this should come as no surprise.

Nor is it bad news. These young men may or may not be ‘tall, blonde, dark and lean’ or indeed ‘rough and tough and strong and mean’ but they are conservative. Amen!
Finally young men have had enough of being having their masculinity slammed as “toxic”, accused of being rapists in waiting while also at the same time being sexually dysfunctional incels. In sum, they are tired of being the bad guys, if you can use the term “guy” which according to most woke women you can’t, as that would ‘assume their gender.”
It is also predictable that women label themselves as more liberal. Young women like to be popular and part of the social group. Currently being liberal is the more popular and acceptable label, so it is makes sense that young women lean left. Young women however are also more depressed than ever before. The number of 18 to 24-year-old young women being prescribed antidepressants has shot up from 440,000 in 2015-16 to 570,000 in 2021-22.’
Young women (despite the ridiculous attempts by Hollywood to make them into violent assassins see The Message) also like to see themselves as kind and compassionate. This translates into being woke, as they believe they are on the side of the little guy (opps, my bad, why do I keep doing that?)
In reality the wokesters are probably the nastiest bunch of the lot. They snitch on people on Facebook, try to get people fired from their jobs and cancel them. They are the kind of people who would throw a guest out of a party for wrong think (as discussed here).
However, despite the personally nasty behaviour, many believe that being politically woke makes then the good guys (sorry again.) There is little that can change their mind as being woke tends to make you very stupid indeed.
I have a few words of caution, however. First, people often label themselves left or right but their belief system can be very superficial. They may not have thought about things deeply but they are conformists so just go with what seems most acceptable or agreeable at the time.
Second, it isn’t clear what questions were used to identify people as liberal or conservative. For instance, if a woman is in favour of no-platforming JK Rowling she may identify as liberal, but really is an authoritarian fool. Shutting down freedom of speech previously would be seen as fundamentally anti-liberal. Today, it makes you woke or ‘liberal.’
Indeed, this writer put down the political gender gap to the great “awokening”, rather than any breach along classical liberal and conservative grounds. Men have not changed much, it is the women who have become more extreme.
Also, the survey was global, and there is a big difference between being conservative in the US compared to the UK.
Having said all that, it is good news if more young men identify as conservative. Women like to be protected and in being liberal, they get to be protected and provided for by the Big State. I’m not sure this is better than being provided for by a husband - at least your husband knows your name. In the eyes of the State you are merely a number. And men still pay far more tax than women.
Still, being a conservative means you get to avoid woke women, and that is a big win. The general sense of smugness that pervades this article where a young woman says she would not date a Tory is enough to put anyone off.
There has been some tendencies by young men to flirt with the idea of being a victim. This is a mistake. Far better to be an assertive, confident young man, than a whining, moaning minny. This is neither productive nor attractive. You might feel you are hard done by but the question is what will you do about it? Sure, as a white, straight heterosexual male you are part of the most discriminated group of people right now. And you are up against the feminised HR departments so securing a job can be difficult.
But as a conservative man you should know that with enough hard work, discipline, and faith you can be successful. Also, it means that you get to date conservative women, who are lot smarter, prettier and feminine than the blue-haired, tattooed privileged woke women out there. That surely is a victory.
A lot of women who think they are woke have a very flimsy, casual commitment to its ideas. They say they are left-wing because leftism is trendy. A confident conservative man could turn them.
In fact, what would happen if governments had to cut spending? Would the Big Daddy State retreat, leaving conservative households as the only option?
