So the Disney Live animated version of Snow White is out, having been pushed back for years and is being panned by the critics. I don’t watch much TV or movies but one movie I have seen is of course the original Snow White. In fact I bought the four Disney classics, Snow White and the seven dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast on DVD as I don’t trust Disney not to alter them on Disney+ to make them more woke, therefore depriving my children of the original classic version. I have told you before to purchase the entire trilogy of Lord of the Rings on DVD as streaming will not protect you.

Anyway I am not going to rehash here why the new version is monstrous – the stupid woke “non-dwarf” – CGI dwarf, dwarfs, the casting of all-round fool and egomaniac Rachel Zelger as Snow White who trashed the original version that everyone loves. I just want to focus on one scene, the one where Snow White kindly cleans up the little cottage while singing “Whistle while you work.”

In the 1937 film, Snow White has escaped her abusive step-mother and certain death by the huntsman who spares her life. She finds refuge with the twelve dwarves who kindly let her stay indefinitely. Do they put her up in an IPAS centre? No they do not. Do they charge her rent? No they do not. Do they say, guests are like fish, they go off in three days so yes you can stay for three nights but after that you will have to find yourself somewhere else to stay? No.

The twelve dwarfs - Dopey included - offer Snow White indefinite sanctuary, kindness, hospitably and safety. They go to work every day in the mines (a dangerous occupation) and she ‘keeps house.’ Like any long term guest she wants to make a contribution to the smooth running of the household so she makes sure everything is spick and span for when the dwarfs come home. This is what a normal woman would do.
