Understood.

My daughters will be away, but I have no doubt about their bond to me and we will have some joint celebration - always celebrate children no matter how old - at a later point.

We'll not be pressured by some commercial construct.

I've seen the pet father's day cards too and think they're awful. But even the "normal" ones often think you would like to use the day to tell your father that he's fat, boring, drinks too much, watches too much sport on TV and breaks wind a lot. Nice.

Nice piece.

It is infuriating that every year the greeting cards for and from human beings get fewer and crappier while those to and from pests [not a typo] proliferate. And you're right -- pests are not children... but their owners very often are age-inappropriate ones.
